On September 25, 2024, Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) SA Yusuf, the Zonal Coordinator for Zone A of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), visited the Oyo/Osun Area Command’s operational headquarters to assess its performance and operational efficiency.

He was welcomed by the Command’s Area Controller, Dr. Ben Oramalugo PhD, along with senior officers and representatives from local security agencies and excise factories.

During the visit, Dr. Oramalugo provided an overview of the Command’s achievements, noting a revenue collection of ₦45.78 billion from January to August 2024, representing 32.3% of its annual target of ₦141.68 billion. He highlighted the Command’s commitment to leveraging technology and enhancing compliance among stakeholders, despite economic challenges.

Dr. Oramalugo also reported significant progress in anti-smuggling efforts, with seizures amounting to ₦3.46 billion in Duty Paid Value. He outlined challenges faced by the Command, such as the need for upgraded logistics and monitoring equipment, and stressed the importance of collaboration with other security agencies.

In response, ACG SA Yusuf praised the Command’s dual focus on revenue generation and smuggling suppression.
