The Federal Government has declared Monday, December 27th, Tuesday, December 28th, and Monday, January 3rd, 2022 as public holidays to commemorate Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day, respectively.

Rauf Aregbesola, Minister of Interior, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulates Christians and all Nigerians at home and abroad on this year’s Christmas and New Year celebrations.

This was stated in a statement issued on Wednesday by Shuaib Belgore, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior. It was titled, ‘FG declares public holidays on Monday, January 27th, Tuesday, January 28th, 2021, and Monday, January 3rd, 2022.’

“We must emulate the life of Jesus Christ in His practice and teachings on Humility, Service, Compassion, Patience, Peace, and Righteousness,” the minister was quoted as saying.

“This will be the most accurate portrayal of Christ and the best way to commemorate his birth.”

To commemorate Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day, the Federal Government has declared Monday, December 27th, Tuesday, December 28th, and Monday, January 3rd, 2022 as public holidays.
