Kazakhstan produced 31.2 million tonnes of oil in January-April of this year, which is 6% more than for the same period in 2019, Kazakhstan’s Energy Minister Nurlan Nogayev told a government meeting on May 12.
“According to the results of January-April 2020, the volume of oil and condensate production amounted to 31.3 million tonnes, which is 2.6% of the plan, or 6% growth compared to the corresponding period of 2019,” he said.
In large fields, in Tengiz, oil production grew by 4.1%, in Kashagan – by 11.5%, and in Karachaganak it remained at the previous year level.
Oil export in January-April amounted to 25.3 million tonnes, which amounted to 105% of the plan, the minister said, adding that gas production amounted to 20.2 billion cubic metres, which amounted to 100.3% of the plan.
Oil refining amounted to 5.2 million tonnes, or decreased by 3.7% compared to the same period in 2019. Nogayev explained this by stopping the Pavlodar refinery in the north of Kazakhstan in April for scheduled repairs.
