NUR-SULTAN, Kazakhstan – As June 10, Kazakhstan has had a significant increase in pneumonia patients with a pronounced clinic COVID-19 and same time a negative PCR test, Kazakhstan’s new Health Minister Alexey Tsoi told a meeting at the presidential palace Akorda on June 30.
According to him, up to 2,500 new of pneumonia cases per day have been recorded in recent days in the country.
The Ministry of Health experts in the field of epidemiology made forecasts on the number of cases and the necessary infrastructure in three main scenarios.
The first scenario. Without quarantine, by the end of August, 27,000 COVID-19 cases requiring hospitalisation will be recorded every day. The need for infectious and provisional beds is estimated at 300,000.
The second scenario is a two-week hard quarantine throughout the republic, as it was in the spring. In this scenario, up to 7,000 patients per day requiring hospitalisation will be registered. The need for a bed fund at the end of August will be 80,000.
The third scenario is four-week hard quarantine throughout the republic. With him, by the end of August, 2,500 people a day will need to be hospitalised, the need for beds will increase to 30,000.
During the day in Kazakhstan, 492 new cases of COVID-19 were registered. Tsoi called the third scenario the most effective. The exact date of quarantine has yet to be determined.
