The Lagos Commissioner for Health, Akin Abayomi, says the state has conducted 8,033 COVID-19 tests since the inception of the pandemic.

Abayomi made the announcement via his Twitter account Friday night.

He also announced the death of another patient in Lagos.

“One additional COVID-19 related death has been recorded bringing total number of #COVID-19 related deaths to 21,” he tweeted.

Abayomi appealed to Lagosians to always use facemasks in public.

He said it was a collective responsibility of residents to embrace the #MaskUpLagos initiative to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

The commissioner hailed the dedication of health workers and members of staff of the ministry on the occasion of May Day.

Latest data from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) shows that Nigeria has conducted 15, 759 COVID-19 tests.
