In a bid to bolster national security and safety measures, the Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, NPM, Ph.D, is poised to launch the enforcement of the electronic Central Motor Registry (e-CMR) system on July 29, 2024.
The e-CMR represents a cutting-edge online repository for motor vehicle data, aimed at supporting law enforcement efforts against crimes such as terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and armed robbery.
This digital upgrade is set to revolutionize vehicle registration and verification processes, ensuring seamless transactions for services like change of ownership, license number, engine, and chassis/body details.
IGP Egbetokun has mandated widespread public awareness campaigns to educate citizens on the e-CMR requirements and procedures ahead of its implementation. Vehicle owners are encouraged to obtain their digital CMR certificates online at [https://cmris.npf.gov.ng](https://cmris.npf.gov.ng) and seek further information from the CMR Command Centre at FHQ Abuja (08117777666, 09169892000) and FHQ Annex Lagos (08117777555, 09169891000). ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, emphasized the initiative’s role in enhancing public safety and national security, urging all vehicle owners to swiftly comply with the e-CMR requirements.
