It was a day filled with praise and well-wishes just a few hours ago on Monday, May 6, 2024.
The event took place in the state-of-the-art Conference Hall of Nigeria Customs Service, Apapa Command in Zone A.
The purpose of the gathering was the official handover from outgoing Comptroller Babajide Jaiyeoba to the incoming Dr. Babatunde Olomu as the new Customs Area Controller of the Command.
During his speech, the outgoing Controller reflected on his nearly eight months in office and also mentioned that it was his birthday.
He shared his initial apprehensions when he took over in September 2023, especially after learning that 10 billion Naira was generated in a single day by his predecessor.
However, he was able to surpass that record by generating 12 billion Naira in a single day.
The new Customs Area Controller also expressed similar concerns upon hearing about the revenue generated by his predecessor.
Nevertheless, Comptroller Dr. Babatunde Olomu assured that he would maintain the momentum, as he represents the current CGC of Customs, Alhaji Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR.
Stakeholders, journalists, and the Deputy Comptroller of Customs, George O. Odusola, all praised the outgoing CAC and wished Comptroller Olomu success in his new role.
Odusola prayed for continued blessings and happiness in retirement for the outgoing Controller, while expressing unwavering support for the incoming CAC in achieving service goals in Apapa.
