The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Seme Area Command, has held a farewell ceremony for its outgoing Public Relations Officer (PRO), Chief Superintendent of Customs (CSC) Isah Sulaiman, who has been transferred to the Apapa Area Command.
Colleagues, sister security agencies, stakeholders, and media representatives gathered to commend CSC Sulaiman’s professionalism, humility, and dedication. The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Wale Adenuga, described him as “an embodiment of humility” and one of the best PROs in the service, crediting him with making his job easier and helping stabilize the command.
“If I have my way, I would cancel his transfer,” Adenuga stated, highlighting his value to the Seme Command.
Representatives from sister agencies along the Lagos-Seme corridor praised Sulaiman for fostering exceptional inter-agency relations. Media professionals present hailed him as a ‘journalist’s delight’ for his accessibility and expertise.
Retirement Ceremony and New Entrepreneurship Initiative
The event also served as a formal retirement ceremony for the Head of the Scanning Unit, Deputy Comptroller Audu Samson Edime.
Speaking on life after service, the Director of NAFDAC at Seme, Dr. Nurudeen Audu, advised retirees to venture into business, stating retirement is “not a death sentence.” He announced that NAFDAC is prepared to support retiring officers with entrepreneurial packages.
In response, Comptroller Adenuga announced the command would organize an entrepreneurship lecture for officers nearing retirement, to be facilitated by Dr. Audu, as part of efforts to prepare them for life after service.
Outgoing PRO Expresses Gratitude
In his response, CSC Isah Sulaiman, who assumed duty at Seme in February 2025, expressed deep gratitude. He credited Comptroller Adenuga’s leadership and the supportive environment for his success, describing Seme as ‘home.’
He pledged to continue serving with the same dedication in his new role at the Apapa Customs Command and urged everyone to extend the same cooperation to his successor.
