The Somolu Local Government Area (LGA) in Lagos has successfully completed a three-day tech and digital skills training program, benefiting 222 participants.
The training covered critical areas including UI/UX Design, Web Development/Coding, and Digital Marketing.
Abdulhamed Salawu, Executive Chairman of Somolu LGA, explained that the program’s goal is to improve digital literacy among both youth and adults, build community networks and digital hubs, and support local startups and entrepreneurs.
He emphasized the potential of ICT to drive community advancement, aligning the initiative with Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES PLUS AGENDA.
The program, known as the Somolu Tech Intervention (SoTech), aims to bolster human capital development.
Salawu also announced that 40 exceptional participants would receive advanced scholarships to further their education and career opportunities.
Kola Mohammed, Senior Assistant to the Chairman on ICT, highlighted the program’s ongoing nature.
“We trained 222 youths and selected 40 top performers to receive laptops and other equipment to aid their future endeavors,” Mohammed stated.
The event concluded with the presentation of certificates to all participants, marking a significant achievement in local tech education.
