Last Tuesday, the country’s president Ibrahim Boubacar Keita and prime minister Boubou Cisse were seized by mutinous soldiers, in an escalation of a months-long crisis.
The proposal was reportedly presented on Sunday during talks between the rebel soldiers and members of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) headed by former Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan.
“We reached compromise on certain aspects and the negotiations will continue tomorrow”, spokesperson for the junta, Colonel Ismael Wague, said.
Neither delegation specified which points they had agreed on. However, according to media, a key focus of the discussions was the fate of detained president Keita and the details of a transition to civilian rule.
